Carrigan is doing all kinds of new things these days. It's like she thinks she needs to do something new everyday now that she is one. Luke was reading to her the other day and there were some dogs on the page. He told her the sound a dog makes and she barked like him. It was too cute! She can moo like a cow also. She knows that bows go in her hair. Although she likes to pull them out sometimes, she always tries to put them back where they go. I was breaking pieces of apples apart because the ones I cut up were too big....I found that out after she almost choked on one...YIKES....anyway...she saw what I was doing and tried to do it too. She is starting to fuss when I give her baby food now too. She'd rather eat stuff that she can feed herself. Luke noticed that one of her bottom molars came in. We had no idea....maybe that's why she has been so fussy that past week. Anyway, I guess it's good that it came in. Soon she can start chewing food with her back teeth. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities for her. Her hair is getting long enough to put in little ponytails. It looks a little ridiculous, but it's fun to fix her hair.

We went to the park today. She loves the baby swing. She giggles when I push her. She crawled up to the top of the slide all by herself like a big girl. She doesn't like me to let go of her when she slides, but she likes to go down if I hold her.

A New Perspective

Carrigan is crawling all over the place now. Yesterday, she crawled around the couch out of my sight so I crawled around to check on her. When I got close to her, she looked at me and tried to crawl really fast to get away. It was too cute. She wanted me to chase her and she was laughing the whole time.

She gets into everything now. She loves to play with the dvds that are on top of the dvd player and the Xbox controller. She understands what "no" means. Most of the time she will look at me when I tell her no and she will stop or let me remove her from what she is doing without any problem. Sometimes though, she will cry like I've just done the most horrible thing to her. She was spitting her food the other day and I looked her in the eyes and told her no. She started crying hysterically and would not stop. She couldn't even finish her food. I had to take her outside to get her to stop crying. That was crazy.

Here are a few videos for your enjoyment!

Relief

Finally, finally, finally! Carrigan has adjusted to the time difference and has settled in to a schedule. Last night was the first night she was happy during her bath and didn't scream for hours.

We didn't do much today. We played outside a little and ate lunch with Daddy in the room. The stroller got left in the car this morning, so when I went to breakfast, I had to hold her the whole time because I was all by myself. It was a little difficult, but she was good and didn't get too fussy.

She hasn't learned any new tricks yet, but she is starting to talk more. She smiles and laughs a little when I eat her up with kisses. She likes it a lot. She smiles at everyone when they talk to her, and they all think she is the greatest baby because she is generally quiet and happy when we go out in public.

We went to church yesterday and I didn't put her in the nursery because I didn't want to leave her with someone we didn't know. I got a chance to talk to some of the ladies in the nursery so maybe next Sunday we will take her there.

We are grilling pork chops out on the grill tonight. I'm also going to try to cook some baked potatoes on the grill. I've never done that so I tried to look up instructions on how to do that, but was not very successful. I think I can figure it out though.

It was a long day

Carrigan cried what seemed like all day yesterday. She has not been very happy. She also isn't sleeping very good at night anymore. Maybe she'll get better by the end of the week. I think with the time difference and trying to adjust to a new environment, it has been hard for her. Luke let me have the car yesterday morning while he went to class. He was supposed to get out at 12 for lunch but he ended up getting out at 11. He didn't have anyway to contact me, so I wasn't there to pick him up. He had to wait on me 40 mins. I felt so bad, but at least he didn't have to wait outside in the hot desert sun for that long.

I've been hanging out by the pool some. It's been fun. Yesterday the sun was out while I was out there and it was nice. Carrigan and I swam for a little while, then she got sleepy so I put her down for her nap and then swam some more. I took her pack'n play out there so she could get a good nap.

Last night for dinner I cooked tacos. They were delicious, but I did not get a chance to sit down and enjoy them. Carrigan was crying the whole time until she went to bed. She did not even like her bath like usual. Today she was much happier. She smiled a lot and we went for a walk outside and went out to eat with Luke for lunch. I finally got some batteries for my camera so we took some pictures. I even videoed her rolling over. It's a new thing and she's getting pretty good at it.

Arizona in August

We flew in to Arizona yesterday. We had a stop in Dallas and then flew in to Tucson. I think Carrigan inherited her Mommy's motion sickness. She threw up several times on the flight from Dallas to Tucson. Other than that, she's a good traveler. She impresses everyone on the plane. She's had a rough time adjusting to the 3 hour time difference. She slept pretty good last night, but we were up and ready to start our day at 4:50 AM.

She get's bored pretty quickly these days so I am constantly having to find new ways to entertain her. We went for many walks today because she loves to go outside...but there is not very many places I can go when we are outside because we are in a hotel. We went to the pool. She slept while I tried to catch some rays, but the sun was hiding behind the clouds when I finally got out there...oh well. It was pretty outside so I stayed out there for a couple of hours.

I was able to address the thank you notes for baby gifts I have been putting off for a while. I had good intentions to send them out in a timely manner, but that didn't happen. I tried to take pictures of Carrigan today so that everyone could keep up with how she is growing, but the batteries in my camera were dead. She wore a new outfit today. It was purple and cute! She is beginning to be able to wear 0-3 month size clothes now, so it's like she has a whole new wardrobe. She has so many clothes of that size. I hope she will be able to wear them all before she grows out of them..but she was in newborn size for nearly 5 months, so we'll see if she stays in this size that long.

Well, time to feed her some rice cereal and get her ready for bed.
